We look forward to
working with your family during the 2008/2009 school year. Don't
forget to check back often to get up-to-date information!
 | Monday, May 26 - CCS will be closed for the government holiday. |
 | CCS is now accepting early registration for the 2008/2009 school year
- Enroll Now/Start Later. Enroll early for a guaranteed slot. |
 | Georgia High School slots and International Enrollments are closed
for 2008/2009 school year. Closures only apply to new
students. It does not apply to those who are re-enrolling after completion
of the 2007/2008 school year. There will be an exception made for US
Military families stationed overseas. |
 | Florida Residents: Are
your student's immunization records up-to-date? Does CCS have a "blue
card" (FL DH-680) on file for your student? The State of Florida
requires that each student enrolled in a Florida public or private school
have either an up-to-date DH-680 Blue card or the DH-681 Religious
Exemption card on file. Both of these forms can be obtained at your local county health department (private
physicians typically have access to the DH-680). In order to assure that your
immunization record is complete and a current copy is in our files, CCS
will be mailing a form - CCS Immunization Requirements Confirmation
Form - along with the 2008 CCS Welcome Letter and ID Cards.
Please note that ALL CCS Florida families should receive
this form after registering for the 2008/09 school year. If the Welcome
Packet that you receive does not contain the IRC form, contact us immediately.
The IRC form will indicate if information is needed. Those with incomplete
immunization records will be granted
30-days to obtain the information and send it to our offices.
NOTE: Handwritten Immunization Waiver requests are no longer
valid. The State of Florida requires form DH-681 which must be obtained
from your local county health department in order to be in compliance due
to religious convictions. Additional reminder: Students entering 7th grade need their
"booster shots"/updated immunizations in order to complete CCS enrollment
for the 2008/2009 school year. Concerns and objections to this
requirement should be sent to
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/. CCS cannot alter the law that is in
place. |
 | Please be certain that correct
postage has been applied to your reporting/enrollment packets. CCS
will refuse all packages/letters which indicate that additional postage is
due. |
 | An official, signed CCS Reporting Form is required
in order to process an official report card. Handwritten report
cards or test score print-outs (such as S.O.S) are not acceptable and will
result in major delays in processing. |
 | Final Reporting is due
after 180 actual days of schooling or within (one) 1 year of the Start
Schooling Date reported to CCS on your Enrollment Form. Failure to submit
reports in a timely manner will result in removal from CCS or additional
fees being required for credit acceptance. For special considerations,
please contact CCS at
ccsrecords@cox.net for reporting extension approval. NOTE:
Students transferring from a private or public school will have 1
year from the schooling start date of their previous school in order to
report final grades to CCS . For example, a student who
transfers to CCS in January 2008, after starting their current year at 'Ageneric
High School' on August 16th, 2007, will have until August 16th, 2008
to complete their work and report to CCS. |
 |
High School students are required to submit English
writing samples (essays, compositions, or research papers) for their
permanent files, even if Standardized Testing is chosen. ( 2-3 average
essays/compositions or 1 in-depth research paper will suffice) |
 | PSAT Testing - Several families have
recently contacted us to ask which code to use for PSAT registration .
If your student will be registering for this test, please use the
HOMESCHOOL CODE FOR YOUR STATE.
They will mail the results to your home address and then you can forward
them to us for your student's file. Do not use our SAT/ACT code as we are
not participating in the testing process. |
 | Seniors & Senior Parents - Don't forget to check your 2008
SENIORS page often
for updates/notes! |
 | When sending reports or enrollments in large manila envelopes using
the brass brad (clasp) closure, please add tape for security. Many times
we receive the envelopes opened and/or torn. |
 | Help us reduce our phone call load! Use email whenever possible. If no response is received within a respectable
amount of time, do not hesitate to resubmit the original email. Emails
can and do get lost or corrupted. When phone contact is needed, call
during our office hours. Our email addresses may be found on the
"Contact" page. |
 | Official transcripts will only be mailed to requesting institutions.
CCS will provide SR parents with an Unofficial Copy of their graduating
SR's final transcript for recordkeeping purposes. This may be
requested on our FORMAL REQUEST FOR TRANSCRIPT form. Graduating seniors will continue to receive copies for college
admissions and scholarship purposes - as needed. |
 | To request a transcript from Crossroads, use the new Formal Request
For Transcript located on the "Forms"
page. Institutes may request transcripts directly - the form is not
necessary for other schools. Due to the uniqueness of Crossroads,
transcripts may take four weeks to process. |
 | Please keep phone calls to a five minute maximum. This allows others
to reach us without too many busy signals. |
 | High School Plans/Credit Statements should only be requested once a
year by using the HSCS REQUEST FORM located on our FORMS page. |
 | Transcript requests should be made at least 4 weeks in advance.
Since we award credit for non-traditional activities as well as a variety
of curriculum, research is often necessary to verify and prepare a
transcript best suited for each individual student. Public schools are
able to print transcripts immediately; however, all students earn the same
credits using the same curriculum on the same schedule. After speaking
with other similar schools with similar credentials, this policy seems to
be the norm. |
 | All outstanding balances need to be paid immediately. Those who
have not yet submitted birth certificates, immunization records, or
school-entry physicals (or waivers) need to do so immediately. CCS cannot
process final report cards or transcripts until the student's file is
complete. |

Florida residents who plan to
enroll in Florida Virtual School should be aware of the upcoming
enrollment dates.
For more information, visit the
FLVS website at http://www.flvs.net.
NOTE: Effective Immediately-
CCS will not approve AP Courses through FLVS unless the student has
previously taken the AP exam or will take the AP exam at another/local
school. Due to the distance between the school and students, it is not
logistically feasible to provided the necessary testing.
Students interested in AP
Courses through FLVS should register with their county as a homeschooler,
enroll at a school in their area, or make arrangements to take the AP
exam locally. Often private/public schools will permit local students to
take the exam at their facility.
Note: CCS is located under
the school district of Okaloosa.
Though affiliated
(meaning we have agreed to accept the grades earned there) with FLVS,
Crossroads is not compensated by any means from FLVS. We simply offer
this information for those who are interested. |
